Imphal, August 28 2026:
Clubs and Meira Paibi groups around Wangoi Community Health Centre (CHC) have warned of agitation if shortage of doctors and staff is not resolved by September 30 .
The warning came after an inspection of the CHC today by six clubs of Wangoi Apunba and Meira Paibi groups.
The inspection followed an earlier visit by People United Youth Alliance (PUYA) which highlighted acute shortage of doctors, staff and facilities.
Speaking to the media, YUDC president Longjam Achouba said Wangoi CHC is a vital health centre for people along Mayai Lambi and caters to patients round the clock.
At present, only four doctors including MO in-charge are managing OPD and day-night services.
He demanded posting of required specialists including ENT Paediatric, Medicine.
Surgery and two Senior Medical Officers, along with adequate staff and laboratory facilities.
He also alleged distribution of expired free medicines supplied by the Government and demanded regular water supply to the hospital.
If the Government fails to act by September 30, Wangoi clubs and Meira Paibis will launch intense agitation, he said.
