CBC organises outreach programme on 'Nasha Mukt Bharat Abhiyan' at Chandel

Chandel, July 28 2026:
The Central Bureau of Communication (CBC), Field Office Chandel, under the Ministry of Information and Broadcasting, Government of India, organised a one-day Special Outreach Programme on the 'Nasha Mukt Bharat Abhiyan' at the Destitute Children Home Liwachangning (DCHL) in Chandel district on Tuesday.
The programme was held under the theme, "Nasha Mukt Bharat Abhiyan -Viksit Bharat Ki Pehchaan" (A Drug-Free India Campaign is the Identity of a Developed India), with the objective of creating awareness among youths on the dangers of substance abuse.
The programme was attended by Ts Kumarling Monsang, Chairman of DCHL; Lungshim Khartu, Superintendent of DCHL; and Jireh Moyon, correspondent of AIR Chandel, as special guests.
Lv John Kobari, Principal of Smart Life Academy, Chandel, served as the resource person.
Delivering the welcome address, Mathem SK Bengam, Field Exhibition Assistant, CBC Field Office, Chandel, highlighted the core objective of the outreach programme and stressed the need to educate youths and encourage them to collectively work towards eradicating substance abuse.
Resource person Lv John Kobari, Principal of Smart Life Academy, Chandel, spoke on the history and objectives of the Nasha Mukt Bharat Abhiyan, which was launched by the Ministry of Social Justice and Empowerment on August 15, 2020 .
He highlighted the serious challenges posed by illegal drug trafficking and called for collective efforts to promote personal, mental and spiritual well-being for the growth and prosperity of the nation.

Lungshim Khartu, Superintendent of DCHL, emphasised the important roles of parents, teachers and government agencies in combating drug addiction.
He urged students to protect their future by staying informed about the harmful effects of substance abuse and avoiding hazardous substances.
Jireh Moyon, correspondent of AIR Chandel, also stressed that a healthy and drug-free youth population is essential for building a developed nation and encouraged students to refrain from tobacco and other harmful substances.
As part of the programme, participants took a solemn pledge to lead a drug-free life, acknowledging that meaningful change begins with individual commitment.
An interactive spot quiz competition was also organised, with winners receiving certificates and prizes.
