Lifetime achievement for Lokendra, Swarnajit as Manipur Film Awards resume

Imphal, May 26 2026:
The Manipur State Film Development Society (MSFDS) will present the 16th Manipur StateFilm Awards, 2024, and the 17th Manipur State Film Awards, 2025, this week, Secretary Sunzu Bachaspatimayum announced today.
Speaking at a press meet at MSFDS, Palace Gate, Sunzu said the 16th awards will be held on May 28 at 3 pm, followed by the 17th awards on May 29 at 3 pm, both at the MSFDS Palace Auditorium.
Governor Ajay Kumar Bhalla, Chief Minister Yumnam Khemchand, and Art & Culture and Tourism Minister Ksh Loken will present the awards.
The MSFDS Lifetime Achievement Award for 2024 goes to make-up and art director Ngangbam Swarnajit.
For 2025, it will be conferred on academician-filmmaker Arambam Lokendra, screenplay writer of Manipur's first feature film "Matamgi Manipur".
Each carries a cash prize of Rs 2.5 lakh.
Sunzu added that prize money in some categories has been increased this year.
He noted that the unrest since May 3, 2023 delayed the awards, but filmmakers continued producing works addressing the crisis, IDPs' hardships, and social issues.
Several films have gained national and international recognition.
