Imphal, May 24 2025:
The Manipur Intemational Youth Centre (MIYC) has strongly condemned the baseless FIR lodged by the Sangaikot Sub-division Defence Committee at the Sangaikot Police Station, Churachandpur District, on May 22, 2025, against Ashang Kasar.
In a release, MIYC stated that the charges against Ashang Kasar rest entirely on a purported "inflammatory statement" circulated via a spurious social media account fraudulently created in Kasar's name on X (@Ashang_Kasar) .
The MIYC affirmed in the strongest terms that Kasar has never authored, endorsed, or shared the content in question.
"The allegation is a calculated smear designed to silence a leading social activist and political analyst under the guise of law enforcement.
This incident is not isolated.
For years, certain elements within the Kuki-Zo community have orchestrated repeated campaigns to besmirch Kasar's reputationspreading counterfeit narratives, distorting facts, and resorting to intimidation.
All such efforts have failed to alter the truth: Kasar's lifelong dedication to peace justice, and constructive dialogue remains unassailable", it added.
Outrightly rejecting any attempt to weaponise violence, threats, or legal mechanisms to suppress dissent, the MIYC said, "India's democratic fabric is strengthened by open debate and the protection of minority voices- not by manufactured grievances or coerced confessions.
The misuse of law enforcement to persecute critics undermines public trust and violates fundamental rights guaranteed by the Constitution of India" .
The MIYC also called for the immediate withdrawal of fee FIR against Ashang Kasar; a thorough investigation into fee creation and dissemination of fee feke social media account; legal action against those responsible for this malicious defamation and fee abuse of official procedures.
The MIYC highlighted feat Ashang Kasar is an established social activist and analyst who tirelessly advocates for communal harmony, human rights, and transparent governance.
"His record is one of untiring integrity, not incendiary rhetoric.
MIYC stands in full solidarity wife Kasar and all who defend fee right to free expression", it added.
Furthermore, the MIYC called upon fee law enforcement agencies, elected representatives, and civil society to reject this disgraceful misuse of fee law.
"In fee tradition of a just and open society, truth must prevail over falsehood, and freedom over fear", asserted MIYC .
