Thoubal, August 23 2025: The villages of Sangaiyumpham Pt I Maning Leikai and Mairenkhul are flooded since the last five days.

However, the district administration and departments concerned have not yet taken any action to address the situation and villagers' concern, they said.

The flood has flooded nearly 150 houses and acres of paddy fields and farms, causing severe hardship to the affected households.

According to Md Firoj Khan, secretary of LEWA Club, the villages have been facing recurring floods for the past 4 to 5 years due to absence of a proper irrigation system.

The locals are facing a drinking water crisis.

There is apprehension of an outbreak of water-borne diseases, the villagers said, urging DC and authorities concerned to urgently intervene and take measures.
