Thoubal Forest Division organises beekeeping training for JFMC members

Thoubal, May 23 2026:
A one-day training programme on bee-keeping was organised today at the conference hall of the Divisional Forest Office, Thoubal, under the initiative of the Thoubal Forest Division.
The programme witnessed participation from members of the Joint Forest Management Committees (JFMCs) of various villages under the jurisdiction of Thoubal Forest Range and Kakching Forest Range.
Divisional Forest Officer (DFO) Thoubal, Dr Leishangthem Jeeceelee; Range Officer (Headquarters) Huidrom Sunder; Range Officer of Kakching Range, Laishram Dinesh; Range Officer of Thoubal Range, Dineshchandra Salam; and several beat officers attended the programme.
During the training session, expert Laishram Bisheshwor imparted practical and technical knowledge on bee-keeping to the participants.
Bee box hives were also distributed to the participating JFMC members for livelihood generation under the State Plan 2025-26.Speaking on the occasion, DFO Thoubal Dr Leishangthem Jeeceelee stated that the JFMCs were formed to work in coordination with the Forest Department and that the Department has been organising various livelihood-oriented training programmes for the members from time to time.
She said that the beekeeping training programme was also part of such initiatives aimed at enhancing selfemployment opportunities and improving rural livelihoods.
Urging the trainees to make the best use of the knowledge imparted by the experts, she encouraged them to actively participate in future training programmes organised by the Department and strive for success through skill development initiatives.
