Painting and Essay competitions held in Thoubal and Bishnupur to mark Wildlife Week

Thoubal/Bishnupur, September 22 2025: As part of the nationwide 71st Wildlife Week 2025 celebrations, the Thoubal and Bishnupur Forest Divisions organised districtlevel painting and essay competitions today under the theme "Living With Wildlife" .

At Thoubal College, the Thoubal Forest Division conducted the competitions in two categories - (Classes V to VIII) and (Classes IX to XII), with enthusiastic participation from more than 300 students representing various educational institutes of Thoubal and Kakching districts.

Range Officer (HQ) Ningthoujam Deepa stated that the programme was organised in connection with the 71st Wildlife Week to be observed next month.

She added that 316 students from 16 institutions took part, with the winners set to represent the district at the State-level competition.

DFO Thoubal Dr Leishangthem Jeeceelee, Range Officer Thoubal Dineshwar Salam, Range Officer Kakching Huidrom Sunder, and other officials of Thoubal Forest Division were also present at the event.

Meanwhile, the Bishnupur Forest Division also held similar competitions at Bishnupur Higher Secondary School.

The events, organised by the Divisional Forest Officer, aimed to create awareness and concern for wildlife conservation while promoting compassion for nature among students.

Altogether, 160 students from various schools of Bishnupur district participated.

The programme was held under the supervision of Waikhom Romabai, Divisional Forest Officer, Bishnupur Forest Division, and was conducted by RK Sadananda Singh, Range Of-ficer/HQ, along with staff members of the division.

The winners of the competition will be felicitated with certificates and cash prizes at a function scheduled for September 24, 2025, at the office of the Divisional Forest Officer, Bishnupur.
