CADA holds drug awareness programme in Kakching

Kakching, July 18 2026:
The Coalition Against Drugs and Alcohol (CADA) on Saturday organised an academic awareness programme at Merciful English School, Hangul, in Kakching district as part of its ongoing campaign against drug abuse.
According to a release issued by CADA, the programme was held under the theme "Mayai Kaba Nishana Maheiroi Khunaida Piba Cheitheng" (Impact of Drugs on the Student Community).
The event was attended by Merciful English School Principal Md Abdul Karim, CADA vice-president Ningthoujam Doren, Assistant Teacher Md Salauddin, and CADA Kakching District Committee president Sorokhaibam Nena as presidium members.
CADA secretary general Takhellambam Geetchandra Meitei served as the resource person.
Speaking during the programme, Geetchandra delivered a detailed presentation on the harmful effects of narcotic drugs and addictive substances on students, highlighting how substance abuse not only affects the lives of young people but also has far-reaching consequences for society.
He also stressed the importance of collective efforts by parents, teachers, meira paibis and senior citizens in combating drug and alcohol abuse, and called for greater community participation to realise the goal of a drug-free Manipur.
