Manipur shooters felicitated for National Championship achievements

Shooters from Manipur who won medals and represented the State at the 68th National Shooting Championship Competition, held at Bhopal and New Delhi from December last year to early January 2026, were accorded a warm reception on Sunday at Slopeland Public School, Khongjom.
The reception was organised by the Manipur Marksman's Club (MMC).
The reception programme was attended by Imphal West Deputy Commissioner Rajkumar Mayanglambam as the chief guest; Director of Education (S) and State Project Director, Samagra Shiksha Manipur, who is also BOSEM chairman, Ng Bhogendro Meitei as functional president; and Commandant of 3rd IRB Sarangthem Hemanta; and founder chairman of Slopeland Public School Trust, Khongjom, Dr Nahakpam Babulin Meitei as guests of honour.

Speaking at the occasion, Rajkumar Mayanglambam stressed the need for collective efforts to promote and develop shooting sports in the State.
He said focused discussions and development initiatives are essential to nurture young talent from the grassroots level so as to bring laurels to Manipur and the country.
He further stated that the difficulties and grievances faced by shooting players should be addressed through joint deliberations with the concerned associations, assuring that he would extend all possible support in this regard.
Urging sportspersons to remain committed and work harder, he encouraged athletes to strive for excellence and sustained success.
During the programme, a total of 25 shooters, including male and female players who brought laurels to the State, were felicitated with mementoes in recognition of their achievements at the national level.
