DC Bishnupur urges voluntary removal of unauthorized encroachments before July 21

Bishnupur, July 16 2025:
Deputy Commissioner of Bishnupur Pooja Elangbam, has appealed to the public in the district to voluntarily remove any unauthorised encroachments along the National Highways, State Highways, Inter-District and Inter-Village Roads, as well as footpaths before July 21, 2025 .
Addressing the media at the Mini Secretariat Conference Hall, the DC emphasized the need for public cooperation to ensure the smooth conduct of the upcoming encroachment eviction drive, commencing from July 21 .
The DC called upon civil society organizations (CSOs), local clubs, and the general public to spread awareness about the encroachment eviction drive.
Pooja Elangbam also pointed out that unauthorized structures along the roads such as house and shop extensions, sheds both permanent and temporary, and the accumulation of construction materials and waste, pose serious inconveniences and safety hazards to the public.
As empowered citizens, we must strive to maintain public amenities like roads and footpaths.
Their quality reflects the progress of a society, she remarked, urging the general public to take active steps in preserving public property.
DC Pooja Elangbam maintained that failure to comply with the order shall invite strict penal action under relevant act and also lead to eviction, demolition and removal of the structures, items and debris by concerned authority and the concerned encroacher shall bear all the cost for such removal.
It may be noted that an official order regarding this matter was issued earlier on July 14 .
