Imphal, March 15 2026:
Manipur Legislative Assembly Speaker Thokchom Satyabrata today urged the enhancement of local medical facilities to curb residents' reliance on out-of-State treatment, thereby strengthening the State's economy.
Speaking as chief guest at the inauguration of a new Haemorrhagic Stroke and Head Injury Unit alongside a Modular Operation Theatre at Kripadashini Advanced Hospital and Research Institute (KAHRI) in Konung Lampak, Imphal, he noted that the current trend of seeking advanced care elsewhere drains local resources.
Th Satyabrata stressed that superior services and amenities in Manipur's hospitals could reverse this outflow.
Addressing private hospitals' funding delays under the Chief Minister's Health Scheme (CMHT), the Speaker acknowledged the challenges and assured efforts to expedite releases.
He also pledged support for KAHRI's growth as a comprehensive facility, including help in acquiring a dialysis machine.
KAHRI Managing Director Dr Hidangmayum Denish Sharma served as president, with senior consultant Dr Yumnam Iboton as guest of honour.
