Role, contributions of VDF lauded at fellowship, interaction meet

A "Fellowship, Interaction and Lunch Meet of the Village Defence Force (VDF)" was organised today at Khongjom War Memorial Sankirtan Hall.
The event consisting of an interaction session with top Manipur police officers was conducted by Thoubal District VDF Welfare Association in collaboration with all VDF personnel under Thoubal district.
At the event, shawls and certificates were handed over to dedicated VDF personnel.
Notable dignitaries at the event include Jogeshchandra Haobijam, IGP, IPS, Manipur police; Manoj Prabhakar M, IPS, SP, Thoubal; H Devendra.
Additional SP (Ops); Divya, Additional SP (LO); Harsavarthan, IPS, Probationer, DHQ Thoubal; Y Sunanta, MPS, Deputy SP, DHQ Thoubal; Oinam Ajit, MPS, SDPO Thoubal and OCs, different ranks of police officers from various Thoubal police stations.
Addressing the gathering, SP Thoubal lauded the role and contributions of VDF personnel in the midst of the prevailing law and order situation in Manipur.
Speaking at the event, Md Idris president, Thoubal District VDF Welfare Association president and general secretary of All Manipur VDF Employees Welfare Committee, said that the honorarium of VDFs was increased by the Manipur Government after Governor Ajay Kumar Bhalla along with top police officials considered the demands raised by AMVDFWA Central Committee.
This has boosted the morale of VDFs in the State, he said.
Making an important announcement, he said that in case of the unfortunate death of a member of the Thoubal District VDF Welfare Association, the sum extended to the deceased's family from the VDF fund will be increased to Rs 3 lakh.
This will go into effect from March 6, which marks the 17th foundation day of VDF, he said.
