Many join launching programme of PM-DDKY

Senapati/Thoubal/Tamenglong, October 11 2025:
Krishi Vigyan Kendra, Senapati, KVK Thoubal and District Administration Tamenglong joined the launching programme of Prime Minister - Dhan Dhaanya Krishi Yojana (PM-DDKY) by Prime Minister Narendra Modi at NASC, Pusa New Delhi today via webcasting.
At Senapati, the programme was webcasted at the training hall of KVK, Senapati where about 200 farmers participated.
According to a press release issued by Dr N Muhindro Singh, Subject Matter Specialist (Vety Sc), KVK-Senapati, talks on different topics were delivered by subject experts including principles and practices of natural farming and hands-on-demonstration, improved package of practices of major oilseed crops and awareness on National Pest Surveillance System (NPSS), farmers' grievance redressal portal, GST reduction benefits, flagship schemes of the Government of India.
Additionally, they educated the gathering on the technologies that can be adopted to increase livestock productivity for livelihood and income generation.
Agricultural inputs were also distributed to the participating farmers during the programme.
At the Multi Purpose Hall of Apollo Bazar, Tamenglong Headquarters, a large crowd of farmers, village authority members and Self Help Group representatives from different villages converged today for the launch of PM-DDKY and the Mission for Aatmanirbharta in Pulses by Prime Minister Narendra Modi.
The programme was formally launched in the presence of Dr L Angshim Dangshawa, IAS, Deputy Commissioner; Kachamthai F Gangmei, MCS, CEO of the Tamenglong Autonomous District Council; D Meidinbui, MCS, SDO Tamenglong; Paul Nangsha, MCS, SDO Tousem; Namthango Kahmei, MCS, SDC Tamenglong, Kikhon Pamei, Informatics Officer along with district-level officers and CSO leaders.
The programmes aimed to encourage adoption of improved seeds and practices, provide technical support and promote self-reliance in cultivation across the district.
It is worth mentioning that Tamenglong district has been included among 100 Aspirational Agricultural Districts of India.
PMDDKY aims to enhance agricultural productivity, adopt crop diversification and sustainable agriculture, augment post-harvest storage at village and block level, improve irrigation facilities, and facilitate availability of long term and short-term credit.
Meanwhile, the event at KVK Thoubal Office was organised by KVK Thoubal, ICAR-ATARI Zone VII, Umiam Meghalaya and the Department of Agriculture.
It was attended by Ningthoujam Ramananda Singh, Administrative Committee member, Khangabok Zilla Parishad; Pukhrihongbam Sanjoy Singh, Chairperson, Administrative Committee Samaram GP and Dr S Zeshmarani, Senior Scientist and Head of KVK Thoubal as the presidium members.
As a part of the launching programme, crop seeds and sprayers were distributed to the attending farmers.
The second session of the launching programme was attended by Dr Kh Premlata, SMS (Horticulture), KVK Thoubal; Longjam Boris, SMA (PP) Thoubal AC; Dr Chuawang Hijam, SMS (PBG) and Salam Prabin Singh, PA Extension as resource persons.
