Mental Health Awareness cum Counselling Programme held

In an effort to promote mental well-being among students, the National MentalHealth Programme-Tele MANAS Manipur, in collaboration with College Development Council and Ya-All: The Youth Network organised a Mental Health Awareness cum Counselling Programme for colleges under Manipur University.
The event was conducted with the objective of creating awareness about mental health, addressing stigma, and encouraging early help-seeking behaviour among young people.
The programme held at Oriental College was graced by Dr MA Sabir, Psychiatrist & District Nodal Officer (I/East), District Mental Health Programme; and Dr S Ranjit Singh, Principal, Oriental College as presidium members.
Dr Karishma Yumnam, Clinical Psychologist, Tele MANAS Manipur and Bidyalakshmi Devi, Counsellor, Ya-All also attended the programme as resource persons.
Counselling sessions were facilitated by Karam Sangita Devi, Psychiatric Nurse, State Tele MANAS Cell and Linthoi Devi, Counsellor, State Tele MANAS Cell.
The programme began with an insightful address by Dr MA Sabir, who delivered an overview of mental health and some common mental health disorders, highlighting the importance of early intervention, support systems, and access to professional help.
It was followed by an engaging and interactive session led by Dr Karishma Yumnam, where students actively participated and discussed their concerns.
