Farmers get boost with ducklings distribution and tech insights

Imphal, March 11 2026:
A technical intervention programme under the ICAR-NEH Programme was successfully conducted today at the Training Hall of ICAR-Krishi Vigyan Kendra (KVK) Imphal West, ICAR Manipur Centre, Lamphelpat.
The programme was organised by the ICAR-Indian Veterinary Research Institute (IVRI), Izatnagar, Uttar Pradesh, in collaboration with ICAR-KVK Imphal West and KVK Senapati.
Dr S Basanta Singh, Head of Regional Centre (HORC), ICAR Manipur Centre, attended as the chief guest, highlighting the importance of scientific interventions in strengthening livestock and poultry-based livelihood opportunities for farmers in the region.
Guests of honour included Dr I Karuna Devi and Dr Mukesh Kumar, both Scientists from the Biochemistry Division at IVRI.
who spoke about innovations and technological advancements developed by IVRI for the benefit of farmers in the North Eastern region.
Dr Ch Sonia Devi, Senior Scientist, Poultry Science, ICAR Manipur Centre, emphasized the profitability of duck farming in Manipur and key health management aspects.
The event was presided over by Dr Laishram Kanta Singh, Senior Scientist & Head, ICAR-KVK Imphal West, who underscored the significance of the NEH Programme in improving farmer livelihoods and promoting sustainable farming practices.
As a key part of the programme, 70 farmers from various districts, including Imphal West, Imphal East, Thoubal, Senapati, Kangpokpi, and Ukhrul, received ducklings.
The initiative aimed to promote scientific duck farming and enhance farmers' income through improved poultry technologies under the NEH Programme.
