BJP remembers Modhumangol

BJP Manipur Pradesh today remembered Sahid Modhumangol and Pandit Deendayal Upadhyaya in a function held at its office at Nityaipat Chuthek observing their 16th and 68th death anniversaries.
The podium of the observance function was adorned by BJP state unit president, Sh Shantikumar, party's national executive member, M Bhorot, vice president S Tiken, general secretary O Shyamnanda and member Seityabhama.
General secretaries, executive members, members of Mahila Morcha and workers attended the function.
President Shantikumar led the gathering in paying floral tributes to the yesteryear's leaders of the party.
It was followed by presentation of a song "Ema nangi-damak thawai katchage, nang-gi thoudang pangbada punshi asi katchage" written by Modhumangol.
Addressing the function, president Shantikumar recalled the life of Deendayal Upadhaya as a leader who efforted to popularise BJP across the country.
He led the Jan Sangha, the party which was later amalgamated with the BJP andworked for the upliftment of society towards socialism.
Deendayal was killed by unidentified men while he was travelling on a train.
The identities of the assailants are yet to be known, he added.
Recalling Modhumangol, he said that he was a man who worked tirelessly for a place for BJP in the state.
Acknowledging his work, LK Advani had given the title "Sahid" to Modhungol.
His priceless contribution to the BJP should not be forgotten by today's workers and members, he advised and asked party members to follow his ideology.
General secretary, O Shyamananda lamented that authorities havefailed to book the culprits behind the murder of both Modhumangol and Deendayal Sharma till date.
