IBSD holds workshop on "Developing successful external funded research project"

BRIC-Institute of Bioresources and Sustainable Development (IBSD), Imphal, successfully organised a one-day workshop on "Developing a Successful External Funded Research Project for University/College Lecturers" at its premises in Takyelpat today.
The workshop was graced by dignitaries, including Laishram Radhakanta Singh, Director, Education (U), Government of Manipur; Dr Suraksha S Diwan, Nodal Officer, BRIC-IBSD and Scientist-F, DBT, Government of India; Dr Naocha Sharma, Director IBSD (Additional Charge); Dr Ch Brajakishore, Scientist-E & Programme Coordinator, IBSD; and Bungba Maibam Khuman, Additional Direction, Education (U).
As per a release issued by IBSD, the workshop aimed to build research capacity among faculty members from universities and colleges of Manipur by equipping them with essential knowledge and skills to conceptualize, develop, and submit competitive research proposals to national and international funding agencies.
Speaking on the occasion, Laishram Radhakanta emphasized the importance of research and innovation in higher education and encouraged faculty members to actively pursue externally funded research opportunities to enhance academic excellence & societal impact.
Dr Suraksha highlighted the role of BRIC-IBSD as a nodal center in supporting research and innovation in the North Eastern Region under NER-BPMC Programme.
She also shared her insights into various funding schemes and support mechanisms provided by the Department of Biotechnology (DBT), Government of India.
In the technical sessions, IBSD Imphal's scientists Dr Sudripta Das, Dr S Indira, Dr Lokesh Deb, Dr Jeyram, Dr PK Bhardwaj and Dr JK Shukla covered key aspects of research project development, including identifying funding opportunities, writing effective project proposals, budgeting and financial planning, compliance and project management strategies.
The workshop witnessed enthusiastic participation from University and College lecturers across Manipur, reflecting a growing interest in advancing research and innovation in the region.
