Chandel, September 09 2026:
Anal Naga Tangpi (ANTA) has raised serious concerns regarding the implementation and distribution of disaster relief assistance in Chandel District, specifically concerning infrastructure damage caused by hailstorms, floods, and landslides during the fiscal years 2024-2025 and 2025-2026 .
In a press release, ANTA Information and Publicity Secretary stated that according to officially obtained Right to Information (RTI) records, funds were utilized by the District Administration for relief and rehabilitation activities in several affected villages.
However, ANTA alleged that despite the official records stating that the funds have been utilized, the village chiefs, village authorities, and intended beneficiaries concerned reported that they have not received any such financial assistance.
This discrepancy raises critical questions that through which channels and to which individuals or entities was the money actually disbursed if the administration has officially released these funds.
The public and the affected communities deserve a transparent, official clarification regarding the exact amounts sanctioned and distributed to each affected village and school, said the release.
In view of the above serious concern, Anal Naga Tangpi urged the authorities concerned to conduct an immediate and thorough verification process while maintaining that the Government must make public the detailed villagewise and beneficiary-wise breakdown of the disaster relief funds sanctioned, released, and disbursed.
