Identification and Assessment Camp held at Keirak

Kakching, August 06 2025: In a significant stride toward inclusive education and healthcare for the differently abled children, a one-day Mega Identification and Assessment Camp cum Distribution of Aids and Devices was conducted for Children with Special Needs (CSWN) of Kakching district at Keirak Upper PrimarySchool, Keirak.

The Assessment Camp was organised by the District Project Officer, Samagra Shiksha (Integrated Education for Disabled)/Zonal Education Officer, Kakching in collaboration with the Rashtriya Bal Swasthya Karyakram (RBSK) team of District Health Society Kakching and Artificial Limbs Manufacturing Corporation of India (ALIMCO), Guwahati.

Speaking at the event, DPO Samagra Shiksha/ZEO Kakching, Mayanglambam Rakesh Singh, said that the Medical Assessment Camp was aimed at empowering Children with Special Needs (CWSN) with proper support and education.

He highlighted that the children assessed during the camp would be issued certificates and provided with aids and devices tailored to assist them in both education and daily life.

He continued that, so far till date, a total of 211 children across Kakching district had been identified as CWSN by Special Teachers of IED wing under ZEO Kakching.

However, if any children are left out for identification, it will ensure that no child is left out in the identification process.

Samagra Shiksha Kakching, IED Coordinator Yumnam Loidang Devi shared that during today's assessment camp, a total of 116 children were identified with various forms of disability.

These included 29 children with orthopaedic disabilities, 28 with intellectual disabilities, 9 with hearing impairment, and 50 with visual impairments.

And out of these children, 80 have been identified for the Integrated Education for Disabled (IED).

Later as part of the event, ZEO Kakching M Rakesh also distributed wheelchair, hearing aid, Braille/White Cane Stick, Elbow Crutches, Auxiliary Crutch, Rollator, CP Chair, etc to some selected differently abled children.
