Sanakhya Ebotombi Haorokcham remembered

The "10th Oja Sanakhya Ebotombi Haorokcham Ningshing Thouram 2025" was held today at the Loktak Hall of Manipur Press Club, Imphal, organised by AVANT GARDE.
The event was graced by Dr P Nabachandra Singh, former Dean, School of Humanities.
Manipur University; Dr Huirem Behari Singh, former Dean, School of Humanities, Manipur University; and eminent artist Kakchingtabam Tha Ebema Devi as presidium members.
The event began with the offering of floral tributes to a photograph of Sanakhya Ebotombi Haorokcham, followed by presentation of awards to achievers who made notable contributions in diverse fields.
The "Sanakhya Ebotombi Award" for the year 2025 was presented to Yengkhom Bihari for his significant contribution in the field of literature while the "Sanakhya Ebotombi Haorokcham Fellowship 2025" was given to Ningombam Surjit Singh, artist of Ougree Theatre Repertory and Sapam Vikramjit Singh, artist of Panthoibi Natya Mandir.
AVANT GARDE secretary Khomdram Tuleshwar was also present at the event.
Moreover, Manipur State Shumang Leela Council (MSSLC) organised the observation of "Teachers' Day and Birth Anniversary of Sanakhya Ebotombi Haorokcham" at Iboyaima Shumang Leela Sanglen in Palace Compound, Imphal.
The event was graced by dignitaries, including Manipur State Cooperative Union president, L Tompishak Singh; Theatre Center Manipur president, P Khogendra Singh; MSSLC president, L Tomba Singh; Rupmahal Theatre senior director, Loitongbam Brahamohon; and MSSLC lifetime secretary, Sougrakpam Hemanta.
During the event, the gathering remembered the contributions made by eminent playwright, theatre/film director and actor Sanakhya Ebotombi Haorokcham towards the promotion & development of Shumang Leela/theatre.
Floral tributes were also offered to a photograph of Sanakhya Ebotombi Haorokcham.
A play titled "Lei Langba" based on Moirang Parva was also showcased.
