Diamond Radio celebrates 9th foundation day

Thoubal, January 05 2026: Diamond Radio, Manipur's first community radio station, celebrates its 9th foundation day today at its Station located at Khongjom.

The programme was attended by several eminent personalities, including ATMA retired Director Naorem Ingobi Singh; former Minister and chairman of Diamond Radio, Moirangthem Hemanta; MSPDCL Thoubal retired DGM, Langpoklakpam Selungba Singh; Eureka High School, Khongjom, retired Headmaster L Shyamo Singh; Sh Gopeshor; Th Kunjeshor and Lamding Higher Secondary School, retired Principal Moirangthem Munal, among others, who were present as presidium members.

As part of the celebration, Diamond Radio Station distributed gifts to 100 selected senior citizens above the age of 70.The station also honoured its staff and well-wishers who have contributed significantly to the growth and development of Diamond Radio by presenting simple gifts as a mark of appreciation and encouragement.

Addressing the gathering, Moirangthem Hemanta stated that with the steady increase in the number of listeners across Manipur, Diamond Radio has been able to expand its outreach.

He said that as part of the foundation day initiative, the station distributed 100 radios to senior citizens above 70 years of age to help them stay informed and connected.

Urging the public not to be disheartened that they did not receive radio today, he assured that Diamond Radio would continue to distribute radios to around 1,000 elderly persons who are confined to their homes and could not attend the event, by visiting them directly.
