Thoubal, October 03 2025:
Students of Heirok Higher Secondary School staged a protest demonstration today on the school campus demanding the appointment of a regular principal and vice-principal at the earliest to ensure smooth functioning of the institution.
During the protest, students carried placards with slogans like "Appoint regular principal at the earliest", "Allow normal functioning of the school", "Don't invite for agitation", "Save Students, Save School" .
Khundongbam Pari, a Class XI student, expressed concern that although it has been around a month since the transfer of the former principal, no replacement has yet been sent to the school.
He further added that the institution does not even have a viceprincipal, which has left it in administrative disarray.
Sapam Subol, lecturer of physics, representing the teacher said that since the transfer of former principal Jayenta on Sep 12, the school has been functioning without a principal and vice-principal.
This absence, he noted, has severely impacted the school's' administrative and academics.
He further stated that a written memorandum demanding urgent appointments had already been submitted to the ZEO Thoubal and the Education Secretary on September 24, but no action has been taken up so far.
Highlighting the inconveniences caused, including difficulties in processing official documents, obtaining approval for participating in inter-state competitions, and hurdles in withdrawing salaries, the teachers urged the government to act swiftly, warning that prolonged inaction will only deepen the academic and administrative challenges faced by the school.
