DES appeals for cooperation

Imphal, February 03 2026: For the first time in Manipur, the Directorate of Economics & Statistics (DES), Manipur will be canvassing the State from January to December, 2026 for the Annual Survey of Unincorporated Sector Enterprises (ASUSE), 2026 and Periodic Labour Force Survey (PLFS), 2026.In this connection, a notification issued by Joseph Pauline Kamson, Secretary, DES has urged all concerned establishments and households to co-operate with the Officers/Officials of DES, Manipur visiting them and provide accurate and complete information during interviews as the success of the surveys hinges on accurate responses.

The surveys will be conducted under the aegis of the National Statistics Office (NSO), Ministry of Statistics and Programme Implementation (MOSPI).

The data collected by the NSO plays a vital role in development planning and research, formulating and implementing welfare policies and enhancing societal welfare through schemes that uplift living standards.

According to the statement, the ASUSE 2026 survey will provide vital insights into employment, economic contribution, societal impact, enabling data-driven strategies for sectoral growth and innovation.

Further, the PLFS survey will generate estimates of the key labour market indicators viz, Labour Force Participation Rate (LFPR), Worker Population Ratio (WPR) and Unemployment Rate (UR) .

Well-qualified and trained officers/officials of DES, Manipur will collect data, using hand-held devices (tablets) equipped with software on e-Sigma portal, from scientifically selected villages and urban blocks.

Listing of households is carried out and a specified number of households are selected for collecting detailed information of all household members by interviewing the head of the household or a responsible or knowledgeable person of the household.

The data collected will be used for statistical purpose and individual data will be kept confidential and not disclosed to anybody including other Government Departments.
