Imphal, August 31 2025: Veteran journalist Hidahgmayum Achouba Sharma passed away today due to a personal ailment.

He was 71 .

In his capacity as a scribe, he served as Editor of Sanaleibak and Joint Editor of Naharolgi Thoudang.

Upon his passing, The Rupmahal Theatre, Yumjao Lairembi Dramatic & Cultural Union and Nimita Devi Nritya Ashram have extended heartfelt condolences.

According to a press release, Rupmahal Theatre organised a condolence meeting attended by their artistes and members at 1 pm .

The gathering observed a 2-minute silence and paid tributes to the deceased.

In their message, Rupmahal Theatre also shared that Hidangmayum Achouba was a senior member and long time secretary of the theatre.

From 1987 to 1997 he worked as an announcer at Akashvani Imphal.

Yumjao Lairembi Dramatic & Cultural Union and members of Nimita Devi Nritya Ashram too organised condolence meetings separately and maintained silence for 2 minutes to mourn the deceased.

Hidangmayum Achouba also served as a member of the Ashram's Managing Committee.

All three offered prayers for the departed soul to rest in peace and further shared in the grief of the bereaved family.
