Imphal, December 26 2011:
The 44th Foundation Day celebration of Manipur Peoples Party (MPP) was held along with leaders of Nationalist Congress Party (NCP) and Janata Dal (United) at BOAT, Palace Compound, today.
Speaking on the occasion as the Chief Guest, MLA O Joy said that it is a historic moment for the party.
The people of the state should cooperate with the party and its allies and the alliance that has come about to bring about a political revolution in the state.
Political change or revolution or a change whatsoever, if at all, has to be brought, then the change should start from us.
He further said that Manipur had merged with the Indian Union to get all the benefits of a developed country.
But unfortunately we have been treated like slaves.
If this trend continues then it is obvious that the people of Manipur will demand independence.
The issue of Supra State, the economic blockade which was allowed to be carried out for 120 days, under the Congress led SPF government clearly shows that there is no government in the state.
It is because of all these facts that the MPP has come up with a pre-poll alliance with other like minded parties to uproot the Congress government and place a non-Congress government in the state for the welfare of the people, he said.

He further said that earlier there were five MPP MLAs.
But now there is only one left.
The other four are said to be after Congress tickets.
Such type of self centered politicians cannot serve the people.
We need to save Manipur through value-based politics.
Radhabinod Koijam, who is the President of the NCP, said that bringing about a political revolution in the state will save the state.
Bringing about this revolution is in the hands of the people.
He extorted the people of the state to strive to bring about a clean government in the next term.
President of MPP, Dr Nimaichand Luwang charged during the rule of the SPF government for the last 10 years 5000 people were killed.
Even pregnant mothers are being killed on the road.
To save the people from such killings in future and to bring about a change in the political scenario of the state, the MPP, NCP and the Jana Dal (United) has formed a pre-poll alliance, he asserted and sought people's co operation.
Advisor of MPP, Dr L Chandramani, ex-MP, Th Chaoba and National General Secretary of Janata Dal, Arun Kumar Srivastava were also present on the occasion.
