POCSO Court sends accused to judicial custody

The Special Court of POCSO Imphal West has remanded a 27 years old man to judicial custody on the charge of sexually assaulting a minor girl on October 19 night at DM College campus by concealing his identity, today.
Accused Nahakpam Ajit @ Abungo, s/o N Dijamani of Thingkangphai Yaiphakol, Churachandpur presently staying at Hiyangthang was produced before the Court after the completion of his police custody period by a team of Imphal West women police.
The police submitted that the accused surrendered before them on October 24 .
Before the Court, it was submitted that the mother of the minor victim lodged a police complaint, alleging that her minor daughter was sexually assaulted by the accused, who introduced himself as Bungo (27), son of Jagat of Changangei.
What the complainant says
The assault occurred inside the accused car at the DM College campus, where he took advantage of the victim's innocence and childish behaviour.
The matter came to light when the daughter disclosed the incident to her mother.
Police stated that during examination, the minor victim revealed that on the night of 5 October, an unknown number called her, and the caller introduced himself as Ibungo.
They then began communicating via WhatsApp calls and messages.
On 19 October, as planned, the accused came to her house, picked her up for their first date, and took her to Moirang.
On the return journey, the accused suddenly drove into the DM College campus and sexually assaulted her inside the car.
The accused has accepted the charges levelled against him.
Moreover, the accused disclosed that his real name is Nahakpam Ajit @ Abungo, son of Dijamani.
On the day of the incident, being a motor mechanic, he picked up the victim in one of his customer's cars, took her to Moirang, and on the return journey, drove into the DM College campus and committed the crime.
The accused also disclosed that he is married and has two sons.
The Court after hearing the submission of Special PP, defence counsel and on perusal of the case record remanded the accused to judicial custody till November 12 for smooth investigation of the case.
