Senapati district honoured as best performing district for tobacco cessation services

Senapati, August 28 2025: Senapati district has been conferred the prestigious award for Best Performing District in Tobacco Cessation Services in Manipur for the financial year 2024-25 .

The award was presented during the State Level World No Tobacco Day observation held on August 26 at Heritage Hall, IMA Lamphelpat, Imphal.

The recognition was given in acknowledgement of the dedicated efforts of the District National Tobacco Control Programme (NTCP) team, who have consistently worked to deliver quality public health services to the people of Senapati.

During FY 2024-25, a total of 258 individuals availed services at the Tobacco Cessation Centre (TCC) located in District Hospital, Senapati.

Among them, 16 individuals received Nicotine Replacement Therapy (NRT), while two successfully quit tobacco for good, marking a significant achievement in the ongoing battle against tobacco use.

According to CMO Dr Percy Sumpi, the award not ony recongises the tireless work of health professionals but also serves as an encouragement for the public of Senapati to adopt healthier lifestyles and stay motivated to quit tobacco use.

She added that, the Tobacco Cessation Centre at District Hospital Senapati, offers a range of services including clinical consultations, counselling and psychoeducation, behavioural therapy, NRT in the form of chewing gums and transdermal patches and follow-up care for individuals committed to quitting tobacco.

OPD services are available every Wednesday, Thursday and Friday from 10 am to 2 pm .
