Kakching, March 28 2026: As observed in different parts of the globe.

Liberty Theatre Kakching celebrated World Theatre Day 2026 at its Training Hall located at Kakching Khunyai on March 27 .

The event was observed under the theme "Theatre and a Culture of Peace".

The event was graced by Pukhrambam Nimai, president, Writers' Association Kakching as the chief guest; Yambem Satya, president, Liberty Theatre Kakching as the functional president and Dr Nongmaithem Pramodhini, president, Macha Chanu Kakching as the guest of honour.

During the event, Leishangthem Birenkumar, theatre artiste, writer and director who has produced around 30 dramas was presented with a certificate of honour in recognition of his crucial contributions in the field of art and culture.

Speakers at the observance ceremony highlighted the need to work collectively to uplift the art forms of Manipur.

Separately, Paradise Theatre, Wangkhei Lourembam Leikai, Imphal East, Manipur and Rural Society For Education and Self Employment, Pallel also jointly observed World Theatre Day 2026 at Shri Shri Radha Madhav Mandop in Pallel Mamang Bamon Leikai.

The event was attended by P Ibotombi, chairman, United Committee Manipur, Pallel Unit as the chief guest; L Kishworjit, Director, Paradise Theatre as the functional president and M Jiban, Convenor, United Committee Pallel as the guest of honour.
