33rd foundation day of Central Agricultural University, Imphal observed

Imphal, January 27 2026: The College of Agriculture, Iroisemba, a constituent college of Central Agricultural University (CAU), Imphal, organised the 33rd foundation day celebration of CAU at its campus in Iroisemba, Imphal yesterday.

The programme attracted 262 participants, including 112 faculty members, officers, staff, guests, and retired teaching and non teaching staff, as well as 150 undergraduate and postgraduate students of the college, and Deans, along with staff from 12 other colleges of CAU from 6 North Eastern States also participated in the celebration via online mode.

The programme was graced by Dr Konsam Himalay Singh, retired Lieutenant General of the Indian Army, as the chief guest.

In his address, Dr Konsam Himalay Singh emphasised the critical role of agriculture in ensuring food security, climate resilience, and self-sufficiency in the North Eastern region.

He underscored the relevance of the National vision slogans "Jai Jawan, Jai Kisan, Jai Vigyan" in strengthening an equitable and progressive society.

The Director of Research presented the University's achievements over the last five years through a data-based Power Point presentation.

Dr Anupam Mishra, Vice-Chancellor, CAU, Imphal outlined the significant achievements of CAU during the last five years, noting that the University is accredited by the National Agricultural Education Accreditation Board (NAEAB) till March 27, 2026, and is implementing 49 All India Coordinated Research Projects (AICRPs) supported by 6 KVKs and 6 Model Training and Vocational Training Centres (MTTC & VTCs) .

He also highlighted CAU's National standing, including 13th rank in ICAR (2020) and an improved 24th rank in NIRF 2025 among 173 institutions.

University senior officials, including Professor Indira Sarangthem, Director of Instruction, CAU, Imphal; Professor Ph Ranjit Sharma, Director of Extension Education, CAU, Imphal; Dr Lalita Mohan Gamayak, Director of Research, CAU, Imphal; Dr Ng Iboyaima Singh, Dean, College of Food Technology, Lamphelpat and Professor K Nandini Devi, Dean, College of Agriculture, Iroisemba graced the occasion and released the CAU Year Diary 2026 published by the Directorate of Extension Education, CAU, Imphal.
