Farmers' Training cum Seed Distribution Programme held

A "Farmers' Training cum Seed Distribution Programme" was held today at Laikot village.
The programme organised by the Agriculture Department, Government of Manipur, aimed to empower farmers through awareness and the distribution of essential inputs such as black gram seeds and rhizobium.
The event was graced by dignitaries, including Joychandra Konthoujam, chairman, Justice Committee on Anglo-Manipur War, 1891 Martyrs & Freedom Fighters of Kangleipak; W Subas Singh, Nodal Officer, NFSNM, Agriculture Department; W Nupendra Singh, Plant Pathologist, Directorate of Agriculture; M Angou Kharam, chief, Phaizol village; and L Akhup Kom, chief, Laikot village.
Speaking on the occasion, Joychandra Konthoujam lauded the initiative taken by .the Agriculture Department to make Manippr self-reliant in food production, by providing free crop seeds and subsidized agricultural inputs to the farmers.
"Manipur is blessed with abundant water resources like rivers, lakes, and springs, and vast arable lands supporting various crops such as rice, maize, and sugarcane", said Joychandra while calling for maximum utilization of agricultural land and adoption of sustainable agricultural practices.
He further urged all the farmers to use the seeds and agricultural inputs provided by the Department wisely to increase their harvest and contribute in making the State self-reliant in food production.
