Social Welfare Dept distributes gifts

Imphal, January 25 2026:
In view of the upcoming 77th Republic Day celebration, the Social Welfare Department, Government of Manipur distributed food and essential items to the students of the Government Ideal Blind School and Government Deaf & Mute School located at Takyelpat.
The distribution ceremony was held today at the Deaf & Mute School in Takyelpat, organised by the Social Welfare Department Anjali Chongtham, Director In-charge of the Social Welfare Department led the distribution to students from both schools.
Key officials present at the event included Konsam Saroja, Deputy Director; L Dhaneswar, Deputy Director; Nongmaithem Kalpana, Headmistress, Government Deaf and Mute School; and other officials from the department's disability section.
Expressing joy on the occasion of India's 77th Republic Day, Anjali Chongtham said that the distribution of items is an annual tradition of the Social Welfare Department.
"Every year, the Department provides food and essentials to children in institutions like the Government Ideal Blind School, Government Deaf & Mute School, BB Paul Mental Development Home, Observation Homes, and Child Care Institutes, in connection with Republic Day", she added.
Anjali Chongtham also mentioned that similar programmes are being conducted by DCPU's in different districts of Manipur at various children's homes.
