Imphal, December 25 2008:
IN SUPPORT of the ongoing ceasework strike launched by the JAC of AMTUC and AMGEO demanding adoption of sixth Central Pay Commission in the state, all medical institutions in the state including hospitals will be closing their Out Patients Department (OPD) for three days from December 27 onwards.
A press release by the Joint Committee of the Medical Department Employees Association (MDEA), Family Welfare Department Employees Association ((FWDEA) and Manipur Health Service Officer's Association (MHSOA) stated that the decesion to join the ongoing AMTUC/AMGEO cease-strike was arrived at during a meeting of the joint committee of the MDEA, FWDeA and MHSOA held on December 18 last.
However, medical institutions under Moirang A/C will be exempted from the proposed OPD closure from December 27 in view of the upcoming by-election, the release stated.
Outlining their strategy, the joint committee stated that the closure of OPDs will be relaxed again for three days from December 30 onwards as an alternative arrangement.
If the state government do not respond to the demands of the JAC of AMTUc and AMGEO within this period, then the joint committee of MDEA, FWDEA and MHSOA will resume the closure of OPDs for another three days from January 2, 2009 onwards, the release outlined.
If the government should still remain silent, then the joint committee will intensify their agitation, the release stated.
From January 5, 2009 onwards all inpatients will be cleared/discharged, and there will be no admission to the hospital wards.
Only the casualty and emergency Services shall remain open.

From January 8, 2009, onwards even the casualty and emergency services will be closed down.
