DESAM Jiribam felicitates State-level Environment Quiz Competition winners

Jiribam, July 24 2026: The Democratic Students' Alliance of Manipur (DESAM), Jiribam District Council, organised a prize distribution ceremony to felicitate the winners of the 3rd State-Level Environment Quiz Competition, 2026, held on June 7 on the theme, "Inspired by Nature, Protecting Manipur's Future".

The programme was held at the DESAM Jiribam office at Babupara, Jiribam, and attended by Range Forest Officer (RFO) Numitkappa Ningthemcha, Ethno Heritage Council (HERICOUN) Jiribam president Senjam Sainik Kumar Singh, Women Association for Socio Economic Development (WASED) Jiribam president N Nivarani Devi, DESAM Head Office founder executive member W Premchand and DESAM Jiribam Council secretary general N Vivek Meitei as presidium members.

The dignitaries were honoured with Lengyan before the programme commenced with the lighting of the ceremonial lamp by the presidium members, followed by welcome and keynote addresses.

In Category I, meant for students of Classes VII and VIII, Hamom Nonglem secured the first position, followed by Konthoujam Ireena Devi and Laithagbam Manjit Singh in second and third positions respectively.

In Category II for students of Classes IX and X, Nongthombam Menaka Devi, Mangalsana Paonam and Rebecca Yumnam secured the first, second and third positions respectively.

The winners were presented cash prizes, mementoes and certificates in recognition of their achievements and as encouragement for their continued interest in environmental issues.

Seven participants from each category were also awarded consolation prizes comprising cash and certificates.
