Imphal, April 24 2026:
Religious rites were held today at Shree Shree Bijoy Govinda to mark commencement of a new water reservoir in Sagolband AC under the Centre's AMRUT 2.0 scheme.
As per a release issued by the office of the Sagolband AC MLA, the upcoming water reservoir will be the fourth such facility in Sagolband, joining three existing reservoirs already in operation.
The project is one of two water reservoir initiatives allotted to Manipur under the central AMRUT 2.0 scheme, with the second project slated for Singjamei.
While the customary rituals were performed to mark the start of the initiative, officials noted that the formal laying of the foundation stone will take place once the prevailing situation in the state improves.
Sagolband AC MLA RK Imo Singh, corporators from Wards 7 and 10, PHED officials, and local representatives attended the ceremony.
Addressing the gathering, RK Imo Singh said nearly 99% of Sagolband residents now have potable water after the Tera overhead reservoir and pipeline network were completed.
The new reservoir, he added, will improve distribution and move the constituency closer to 24x7 supply for all households.
The project is being seen as a result of local initiative and part of a wider push to modernise basic services in the constituency.
