BCLS Training begins at RIMS under NABH Code Blue Programme

Imphal, July 23 2026: The Regional Institute of Medical Sciences (RIMS), Imphal, commenced Basic Cardiac Life Support (BCLS) Training today at Jubilee Hall under the NABH Code Blue Sensitization Programme.

The training is being organised by the Department of Anaesthesiology in collaboration with the Code Blue Committee, RIMS, as part of the institute's NABH accreditation preparedness and patient safety initiatives.

Medical Superintendent, RIMS Hospital, inaugurated the programme in the presence of Dr Gojendra Rajkumar, Professor and Head, Department of Anaesthesiology, RIMS.

Addressing participants, Prof N Sanjib said BCLS is a vital component of patient safety and a key requirement under NABH standards.

He stressed that every hospital staff member must be able to provide immediate and appropriate response during cardiac arrest until the Code Blue Team arrives.

Describing it as practical, hands-on training with expert demonstrations, he urged staff to actively learn and apply life-saving skills to strengthen emergency preparedness.

The training aimed to equip non-teaching staff with essential skills including early recognition of cardiac arrest, timely activation of the Code Blue system, high-quality CPR, basic airway management, choking relief, and first response during medical emergencies.

Heads of Departments, Units and Sections, along with non-teaching staff and students of RIMS, participated in the programme.

The initiative reflected RIMS' continued commitment to strengthening emergency response systems and delivering quality healthcare in line with NABH standards.
