Khorilol Neinaba / district-level poetry recitation held in Thoubal

Thoubal, July 22 2026: As part of the year-long silver jubilee celebration of the Manipuri Sahitya Parishad, Thoubal branch, a literary analysis (Khorilol Neinaba)-cum-district-level poetry recitation competition for students of Thoubal district was organised on Wednesday at the Child Care and Education Foundation (CCEF) Shanglen, Wangjing Sorokhaibam Leikai.

The event was attended by Wangjing Women and Girls Society (WWAGS) secretary Laishram Premananda as chief guest, Manipuri Sahitya Parishad, Thoubal branch president Dr Yumnam Mahendrakumar as functional president, and Wangjing-Lamding Municipal Council Caretaker Councillors Thokchom Amitav (Ward No 4), Narengbam Binoi (Ward No 5) and Heikrujam Gourango (Ward No 6) as guests of honour.

During the literary analysis session, retired senior grade lecturer Tongbram Babulal, Associate Professor of Waikhom Mani Girls' College Sengoi Sanasam and Lamding Higher Secondary School lecturer Dr Thokchom Priya spoke on various aspects of literature.

The speakers discussed the evolution of literature from the early days to the present, different forms of literary writing, the present condition of Manipuri literature and the relationship between literature and society.

They also highlighted the significant role of literature in the development of society.

The poetry recitation competition was held in two categories.

In Category A, for students of Classes IV to VI, 26 students participated.

Langpoklakpam Silpa of Khongjom Standard English School secured the first position, Laishram Kritina of CCEF Wangjing bagged the second position, while Sapam Lanchenba of Khongjom English School and Thongram Linthoi of CCEF Wangjing jointly secured the third position.

In Category B, for students of Classes VIII to X, 36 students participated.

Soibam Lingjelthoibi of Khongjom Standard English School secured the first position, followed by Langpoklakpam Hemapati of the same school in second place and Moirangmayum Chaoba of CCEF Wangjing in third place.

The winners of the competition were later felicitated and awarded prizes.
