New Psychiatry Ward inaugurated at RIMS

Prof G Sunil Kumar Sharma, Director of Regional Institute of Medical Sciences (RIMS), Imphal, inaugurated the newly relocated Psychiatry Ward today at its new site, the former Covid Ward situated behind the Gymkhana.
As per a release issued by RIMS, the ribbon-cutting ceremony was graced by Prof N Sanjib Singh, Medical Superintendent, RIMS Hospital; RK Mecolt Singh, Deputy Director (Admn); Prof L Rajesh Singh, Dean (Academics); Prof S Gojendra Singh, Head, Department of Psychiatry, RIMS, Imphal; and Prof RK Lenin Singh, Department of Psychiatry, RIMS, Imphal.
Speaking on the occasion, Prof Sunil Kumar congratulated the Department of Psychiatry on the successful relocation of the ward and expressed confidence that the new environment would greatly enhance patient healing and recovery.
He assured that further development of the site, including fencing, landscaping, and improved facilities, will be undertaken in the coming months.
He also highlighted the remarkable contributions of the Department of Psychiatry to the people of Manipur, the North East, and the country, despite its limited faculty strength.
The Director announced that RIMS plans to expand postgraduate seats in psychiatry to meet the growing national demand for mental health professionals.
Additionally, Prof Sunil Kumar revealed plans to establish the State's first Autism Clinic in collaboration with the Government of Manipur, which will provide much-needed specialized services within the state.
Heads of departments, faculty members, nursing officials, and staff of RIMS, Imphal were also present at the event.
