Senapati, January 20 2026:
The Manipur State Commission for Women (MSCW), in collaboration with the District Administration, Senapati, on Monday organised a one-day sensitization programme on "The Sexual Harassment of Women at Workplace (Prevention, Prohibition and Redressal) Act, 2013" at the DRDA Conference Hall, Old DC Office Complex, Senapati.
Addressing the gathering, Deputy Commissioner Mamoni Doley, lauded the MSCW for its proactive initiative aimed at ensuring a safer and more inclusive work environment for women.
She noted that many offices continue to submit 'nil' reports on harassment cases, often due to lack of legal awareness or peaceful society in the absence of incidents.
Highlighting the issue of subtle harassment, the DC noted that sexist or misogynistic remarks are sometimes passed without realising that such behaviour constitutes harassment.
She pointed out that women often hesitate to seek legal remedies due to fear of social stigma and victim-blaming, where their actions are unfairly scrutinized.
She urged all offices to prominently display key provisions of the Act on notice boards and in public spaces through posters and flex boards.
The DC also encouraged the employees to utilize iGOT Karmayogi platform- which offers simplified video modules on workplace safety and legal rights.
She reminded that the Act protects everyone entering a workplace and guarantees the right to a dignified and peaceful working environment.
Speaking on the occasion, Th Tiningpham Monsang, MSCW chairperson highlighted the initiative undertaken by the Commission to address issues faced by women across the State and to promote women's empowerment.
She informed that cases of sexual harassment or complaints can be registered through the SHe-Box portal, by calling the National Helpline No 181, or by reporting to the local complaints authority.
She appealed to all stakeholders to work collectively towards creating safe and harmonious workplaces.
The programme also included a technical session on "The Sexual Harassment of Women at Workplace Workplace (Prevention, Prohibition and Redressal) Act, 2013" deliberated by Kawizengdauliu, Advocate, Senapati District Court, followed by an interaction programme.
The programme was attended by Khosia Mao, Public Prosecutor cum Government Advocate, Senapati and the Chairperson of the Local Complaints Committee, Senapati; SK Sophia Moyon, member MSCW, Sub-Divisional Officers, District Levei Officers, Presiding Officers and members of Internal Committee of all departments, institutions and organizations of Senapati district.
