Moirang, July 18 2025:
In a strong rebuttal to recent allegations made against M Prithviraj Singh, former MLA of Moirang AC, Team Prithviraj has issued an official statement strongly refuting the charges made by Md Sangomsumbam Anwar Ali during a press conference held on July 16, 2025 by the National People's Party (NPP), Moirang Block, at the residence of sitting MLA Thongam Shanti Singh at Moirang Philem Leikai.
The press meet, reportedly held to address concerns raised by Lok Sabha MP Angomcha Bimol Akoijam, highlighted discrepancies in public water connection records under the Jal Jeevan Mission (JJM).
The MP alleged fraudulent data entries on the Public Health Engineering Department (PHED) website, suggesting misrepresentation of water connections in Moirang, Kwakta, and surrounding areas.
These connections were allegedly shown as achievements under the Swachh Bharat Mission (SBM) and JJM despite no real implementation.
Team Prithviraj in a statement said that Md Sangomsumbam Anwar Ali (46) of Kwakta ward no 3, Sabal Leikai along with NPP Political Affairs Committee members, accused former MLA M Prithviraj Singh of being responsible for these irregularities during his tenure from 2008 to 2016 .
Team Prithviraj has condemned these allegations as "baseless and defamatory", emphasizing that JJM was officially launched only on August 15, 2019 by Prime Minister Narendra Modi, well after M Prithviraj Singh's tenure ended.
Stating that any actions, decisions, or lapses associated with the implementation of JJM, whether in Moirang or any other location were occurred well beyond the term of M Prithviraj Singh, and are in no way connected to him, as the works implemented under JJM cannot list the works of other schemes, Team Prithviraj said that the accusation made by Md Anwar are entirely devoid of factual basis and appear driven by malafide intent to defame and publicly malign M Prithviraj Singh.
Team Prithviraj has demanded an unconditional apology from Md Anwar Ali and a public retraction of the false statements.
Should he fail to comply, the team will be compelled to pursue legal action to safeguard Prithviraj Singh's reputation and seek appropriate redress, said Team Prithviraj.
