Chandel, May 15 2025:
A one-day awareness programme on "Disseminating the Zoonotic Diseases in Chandel District" was organised by Chandel Forest Division under the leadership of Chandel DFO Dr Naorem Munal Meitei and his team on Thursday at Japhou Upper Primary School, Chandel.
The programme was conducted under the aegis of the Principal Chief Conservator of Forests (Wildlife) and Chief Wildlife Warden, Manipur.
Dr Munal, School Management Committee convenor K Tathangam, headmaster Shongsir Nicodam Monsang and forest range officer W Sumo attended the event as presidium members.
Addressing the gathering, Dr Munal highlighted the high prevalence of insect-borne diseases in hilly and forested areas.

He urged the public to remain vigilant and seek early testing, while also stressing the need to prevent the transmission of diseases from domestic, poultry, and wild animals.
Protecting the environment, forests, and ecology, he said, is crucial to preventing such outbreaks.
