An academic awareness programme on the topic "Mayai Kaba Nisha na Maheiroi Khunai da Piba Cheitheng" was organised by Coalition Against Drugs & Alcohol (CADA) at Moirang Multipurpose Higher Secondary School on Tuesday.
The programme was attended by CADA president Hijam Priyokumar, School principal RK Saratkumar and CADA, Bishnupur District Committee secretary general Heisnam Naobi as presidium members.
Speaking at the event, CADA general secretary Takhellambam Geetchandra Meitei urged students to avoid experimenting with drugs, stating that drugs are harmful and pose a serious threat to life.
He cautioned that drug use not only affects the individuals and their families but also harms the entire neighbourhood and community, eventually leading to the breakdown of society.
He further explained that drug dependence doesn't occur from using drugs just once or twice but from prolonged use/ exposure.
"Students must understand that the best approach is complete avoidance of drugs" Geetchandra said, adding that parents and teachers play a vital role in eliminating drug use from society.
