Legal awareness programme on POCSO, JJ Act held

Imphal, September 12 2026: A one-day legal awareness programme on the Protection of Children from Sexual Offences (POCSO) Act, 2012 and the Juvenile Justice (Care and Protection of Children) Act, 2015 was organised at St Savio School, Langol, Imphal West, on Saturday.

The programme was jointly organised by the Association for Development of Integrated Communities, Manipur (ADICOM), Juvenile Justice Boards (JJB) Kamjong and Ukhrul, and St Savio School, Langol, with the objective of sensitising students and the school community on child rights and protection.

Chairman of St Savio School, Kh Suresh Singh attended as chief guest, while JJB Kakching Member N Narmada and JJB Bishnupur Member K Geetanjali attended as guests of honour cum resource persons.

The resource persons explained key provisions of POCSO and JJ Acts, including prevention of sexual offences against children, reporting abuse, protection of victims and welfare of children.

They stressed the need to create a safe, child-friendly environment in schools.

ADICOM joint secretary L Premchand presided over the function.

St Savio School Principal Ng Somendro Singh, JJB Ukhrul Member Yarso Keishing and Doren Heisnam, JJB Kamjong also graced the programme.

Around 167 students participated in the interactive session.
