KGBV Andro celebrates International Day of the Girl Child

Joining the rest of the world, Kasturba Gandhi Balika Vidyalaya (KGBV), Andro, in collaboration with the Indian Army's Red Shield Division, celebrated the International Day of the Girl Child 2025 with great enthusiasm and spirit.
The event highlighted this year's theme "The Girl I Am, The Change I Lead- Girls on the Frontlines of Crisis" and reaffirmed the commitment to empowering girls through education, awareness, and leadership, said a release.
The celebration began with a warm welcome for Army personnel and distinguished guests by the school authorities.
This was followed by an inspiring motivational address by an Army Officer who spoke about the values of discipline, leadership, and service to the Nation.
A special lecture by Maj Memthoi KH (retired) focused on career guidance, mental wellness, and health and hygiene.
The interactive session motivated students to explore new career opportunities, including the Indian Armed Forces, while reinforcing the importance of emotional resilience and physical wellbeing.
Adding vibrancy to the occasion, students of KGBV Andro presented a cultural performance that included a beautifully choreographed dance celebrating girlhood, unity, and hope.
Rani Rose, Principal of KGBV Andro, expressed heartfelt gratitude to the Indian Army for their continuous support toward community development and the holistic growth of students.
She highlighted that such initiatives go beyond ensuring security, strengthening confidence and purpose among young girls.
The programme concluded with a sanitary kit distribution drive jointly organised by the Red Shield Division and Aakar Innovations Pvt Ltd & Aakar Social Ventures.
A total of 300 sanitary kits were distributed to promote menstrual hygiene, self-care, and dignity- key aspects of adolescent health and empowerment.
