Capacity building workshop for homestay entrepreneurs concludes

A 5-day capacity building workshop for homestay entrepreneurs of Manipur, organised under the Raising and Accelerating MSME Performance (RAMP) scheme, concluded today with an enriching exposure visit to the Manipur Royal Holidays Homestay.
The workshop, held at the Directorate of Tourism, North AOC, Imphal, was aimed at empowering local stakeholders to excel in the hospitality sector and promote responsible, authentic tourism in the State.
As per a release issued by Directorate of Tourism, the exposure visit was hosted at the Manipur Royal Holidays Homestay, operated by M Birlanda Singh at Awang Sekmai New Market, Imphal West The homestay has been recognised as a Gold category accommodation by the Ministry of Tourism, Government of India, exemplifying excellence in service quality and authentic local experiences.
At the closing ceremony, Lourembam Bikram, Director (Tourism), Manipur, distributed certificates to the workshop beneficiaries.
The Director emphasized the importance of homestays in offering genuine cultural experiences to visitors.
He also highlighted the vital role of tourism stakeholders in promoting the State's rich heritage and natural beauty, while underscoring the significance of hospitality and service quality in boosting tourism.
Bikram expressed optimism about the future, stating, "We believe that with the skills and knowledge gained through this workshop, more homestays will emerge across Manipur, contributing to sustainable tourism growth and local economic development".
The event was supported by a team from Grant Thornton Bharat LLP, the State Implementing Unit (SPIU) for RAMP, as part of the Ministry of Micro, Small and Medium Enterprises' efforts to strengthen MSME enterprises in the hospitality sector.
The programme, which commenced on July 7, 2025, is part of the Government's broader initiative to foster entrepreneurship, improve service standards, and position Manipur as a premier tourist destination.
