'People must learn about AI': Geoffrey opens 'Agentic AI Saksham' at DM College

Imphal, May 11 2026: Commissioner, Higher and Technical Education, N Geoffrey on Monday said students and the public must learn about Artificial Intelligence as its importance is increasing every day.

He was speaking as chief guest at the inaugural function of the three-day "Agentic AI Saksham" programme held at the Central Hall of DM College of Science.

The programme is organised by DM University.

Geoffrey said that AI technology is moving very fast in India, but the target has not been achieved.

Manipur has not yet fully tapped the benefits of AI .

The training is being held to enable people to use -its benefits, he said.

He asserted that AI can help correct human errors in various fields and also provide benefits.

It is time for students and the public tb understand what AI is, he added.

DM University Vice Chancellor W Chandbabu said "AI Saksham" is a very important programme under the Ministry of Education, Government of India.

He mentioned that the programme seeks to teach students how AI can be used in work, both physically and virtually, to reach decisions.

DM University is also working to conduct training on drones, semiconductors and start-up entrepreneurship as part of the Ministry of Education's calendar programme, he said.

Around 519 students took part in the inaugural function.

Directorate of University and Higher Education Director L Radhakanta, DM University Registrar RK Joteen, DM College of Science Principal Ksh Birbal and Capable India expert Mayank Arora also attended as dignitaries.
