Brains and Bots: How REVA University is powering future of education with AI
Source: The Sangai Express

Imphal, July 10 2025: In the era of Artificial Intelligence (AI), education is no longer about memorising information - it's about mastering innovation.

With an AI-First approach that spans every school, programme, and discipline, REVA University is preparing students not just for today's careers but for the opportunities of tomorrow.

Speaking about this approach, Dr P Shyama Raju, Chancellor, REVA University, said "At REVA University, we are nurturing a generation of ethical leaders who will harness the power of AI not just for innovation but for inclusion, impact, and the greater good".

"Our students are being prepared to solve society's most pressing challenges - with intelligence, integrity, and heart", he added.

AI-First Vision: Leading Tomorrow's Education Today

Gone are the days when education followed a one-size-fits-all model.

With AI, classrooms are being transformed into dynamic, personalised learning environments.

At REVA, this change began well ahead of national trends.

In June 2024, REVA University launched its AI-First Approach, even before the AICTE's 2025 directive, placing AI at the very heart of our academic ecosystem.

Whether it's law or life sciences, business or design, REVA's students are not only learning about AI- they're using it to solve real-world challenges.

From predictive soil health models in agriculture to voice-activated emergency health platforms, the future is already taking shape here.

From Coding to Creativity: An AI-Integrated.

Curriculum

At REVA, AI is not an isolated subject for computer science majors.

Every programme incorporates AI modules tailored to the specific field.

First-year students are introduced to AI tools like GitHub Copilot and ChatGPT, learning to collaborate with intelligent systems right from day one.

In fact, students now tackle complex coding projects in their first year tasks that were once reserved for third-year students.

Teaching the Teachers: AI Upskilling and Mentorship

REVA's AI transformation starts with its educators.

Recognising that empowered faculty drive empowered students, the University created a dedicated AI-First Team to mentor and train academic staff.

Through awareness camps, prompt engineering workshops, and training in data analysis with natural language, faculty are being equipped to lead AI-enhanced instruction across all disciplines.

AI Infrastructure and Industry Integration

To support this shift, REVA has built robust infrastructureestablishing Centers of Excellence, forming key industry partnerships, and creating in-house AI tools for exam delivery, curriculum support, and personalised learning.

These efforts ensure that REVA students receive hands-on exposure to the technologies shaping the global future.

Additionally, REVA's AI-Verse Student Chapter promotes cross-disciplinary AI exploration and student-led research.

Activities such as AI-based gaming, fun-stalls during campus visits, and hackathons make learning interactive and exciting while instilling deeper AI fluency.

Beyond the Classroom: AI in Research and Innovation

At REVA, AI is not just a subject, it's a catalyst for research and innovation.

Students and faculty actively collaborate across disciplines to apply AI in areas like-Smart agriculture and infrastructure, sustainable development, healthcare analytics and AI in education & assessment.

Outcome-based learning models ensure that programme objectives evolve continuously to include the latest in AI thinking and application.

Superset courses have also been introduced for advanced learners, allowing them to fast-track into second or third-year content based on performance.

AI as a Career Catalyst

The future job market is rapidly evolving, and so are REVA's academic offerings.

The Univeristy is preparing students for roles like AI trainers, prompt engineers, algorithmic ethicists, and hybrid professionals who can bridge domain expertise with AI capabilities.

Dr Sanjay R Chitnis, Vice Chancellor, REVA University, said "At REVA University, we're empowering our students to partner with AI, harness its potential to seize bold opportunities and every now and then, even outsmart it!" .
