Poumai community celebrates 30 years of unity & culture at Vadaoyu Niih 2025 in Bangalore

In a celebration that combined tradition, talent, and testimony, the Poumai Naga community in Bangalore commemorated the 30th Vedaoyu Niih cum Raising Day, drawing hundreds to an event filled with faith, culture, and community pride."Organised by the Poumai Naga Tsiidoumai Me, Bangalore (PNTMB), the celebration symbolized three decades of preserving Poumai spiritual and cultural identity, particularly among its expanding diaspora.
The morning session began with a solemn invocation led by Fr James Chin SJ, setting a reverent tone that was carried through by the inspiring presidential address from PNTMB president Dahinii Titus H .
She underscored the board's 30-year journey, highlighting the importance of cultural preservation and spiritual continuity in an ever-evolving world.
The event come alive with a moving folk song performance by Phuba Bengaluru and blessings from spiritual leaders including Rev Dr KH Reihe, Nungsangmongla Ozukum (NSUB president), and H Sapuni Poumachi, who offered historical insights into the origins of the community board.
A celebration drew a distinguished lineup of dignitaries, including Joram Maivio, Special Invitee from the Ministry of Home Affairs and member of the Lt Governor of Delhi's Committee for the North East attending the function as chief guest; Rajesh AM, Joint Resident Commissioner, Govt of Manipur as guest of honour, and Captain Roveinai Paotei, First Naga Woman Pilot from Manipur (Akasa Air) and Benjamin Varay (Sr System Operations Engineer, Wells Fargo) as special invitees.
In the second session, the focus turned to the youth with a Freshers' Got Talent segment and a glittering Crowning Ceremony.
A colorfill cultural showcase followed, featuring traditional dances, tribal attire, and fusion performances.
Each act offered a visual and emotional journey into the Poumai heritage, reinforcing the community's deep rooted identity.
Star performers Ziikhu Titus and NG Atoznah traveled from Senapati, Manipur to captivate the audience with their folk-inspired, emotionally resonant sets-eaming some of the day's loudest applause.
Husou Vemai (Phuba Khuman) and Houlapei Bumai (Chaonamai) were crowned Mr and Miss Fresher 2025, while Vadu and Vahriine, both from Phuba Khuman, were named runners-up for the Mr and Miss Fresher.
From heartfelt speeches to loud cheers, from solemn prayers to roaring performances, the 30th Vedaoyu Niih cum Raising Day celebration stood as a powerful tribute to the Poumai community's unwavering commitment to unity, identity, and future aspirations.
