Winter crop seeds and fertilisers distributed to farmers of Chandel, Bishnupur

The Rabi Campaign 2025-26 for Chandel district was launched today at the DC's Office Multipurpose Hall, Chandel, with the distribution of Rabi seeds and fertilisers to the fanners under the "National Mission on Edible Oils-Oilseeds (NMEO-OS)" and State Plan.
The event was attended by Deputy Commissioner of Chandel, Laishram Nandakumar as the chief guest; District Agriculture Officer, Chandel, SP Lovejoy Anal as the functional president; and Additional Deputy Commissioner (ADC) Chandel, Md Firoj Khan; and Divisional Forest Officer, Chandel, Dr N Munal Meitei, as guests of honour.
Speaking at the event, DC Laishram Nandakumar highlighted Manipur Government's continuous efforts to improve the livelihood of farmers.
He stressed the importance of increasing food production to meet the growing demands and advised farmers to use fertilisers judiciously in consultation with the Agriculture Department to minimise harmful effects on people and the environment.
He further encouraged the adoption of scientific fanning methods to enhance productivity in the district and urged farmers' groups to approach the district administration with their concerns or suggestions for further support.
During the event, a variety of winter crop seeds, including mustard seeds, and fertilisers were distributed to the farmers as part of the initiative.
Meanwhile, the District Agriculture Office, Bishnupur, today launched the first phase of winter crop seeds distribution, benefitting 80 selected farmers, under the "National Mission on Edible Oils-Oilseeds (NMEO-OS)" and State Plan.
The distribution ceremony held at Moirang Fish Market, was attended by MLA Moirang AC Thongam Shanti; District Agriculture Officer H Manihar; and ADC/ADM Bishnupur, T Opendro as presidium members.
Speaking on the occasion, District Agriculture Officer, H Manihar stated that the distribution ceremony held today marked the beginning of the district-wide initiative to supply winter crop seeds and fertilisers to farmers.
He added that similar programmes will be conducted at six other locations starting tomorrow.
He further explained that while seeds are being provided free of cost, fertilisers will be available at a subsidized rate of Rs 270, as fixed by the Governments.
Farmers, however, will bear their own labour charges.
The six locations where the distribution will continue from tomorrow include Kumbi, Saiton, Bishnupur, Nambol, Irengbam, and Moirang.
