SEACO celebrates 15th foundation day

The 15th foundation day of South East Asia Cultural Organisation (SEACO) was held today at Manipur Dramatic Union locatedat Yaiskul, Imphal.
The event was attended by Dr Tourangbam Brajakumar Singh, Director, Directorate of Environment and Climate Change as the chief guest and Nongthombam Gobardhan Mangang, president SEACO as the functional president.
Addressing the gathering, Dr T Brajakumar said that SEACO plays a big role in preserving the culture, tradition and customs of Manipur in the midst of influx of outsiders and prevailing social issues.
Highlighting the role of culture in bringing communities together, Dr Tourangbam Brajakumar further addressed its slow degradation in today's society and called upon the public to safeguard and promote Manipuri culture.
Meanwhile, Nongthombam Gobardhan Mangang said that SEACO has been working tirelessly for the welfare of indigenous communities in South East Asia including the Meitei community.
Speaking as the guest of honour, Dr Laishram Deben, former Director of JNIMS Hospital advocated for cultural exchange programmes to promote the identities of indigenous groups.
Other notable dignitaries present at the event include Sukham Bidyananda, president Kangleipak Students Association; Akham Langol, advisor, SEACO; Sagolsem Chandra Meetei, Chief, Andro village and Kh Brojen, Chief, Koutruk village among others.
