Kamjong, Noney to celebrate Sardar Patel's 150th birth anniversary with unity themed-events

As part of the nationwide Sardar@150 campaign launched by the Ministry of Youth Affairs & Sports, Government of India, the District Administrations of Kamjong and Noney has announced plans to organise a series of events to commemorate the 150th birth anniversary of Sardar Vallabhai Patel, the Iron Man of India and chief architect of national integration.
In a separate press briefings held at their respective offices, the Deputy Commissioner of Kamjong and Noney, Rangnamei Rang Peter and Dr Sharath Chandra Arroju, respectively shared details of the upcoming events aimed at promoting national unity and integrity.
Deputy Commissioner of Kamjong, Rangnamei Rang Peter informed that the celebration in Kamjong will be held on November 7, 2025, at the Town Hall, District HQ, Kamjong.
The programme will feature a range of activities including District-Level Padyatras (Unity Run), Yoga sessions, Cleanliness Drives/ Swachhta Campaigns, Drug De-addiction Awareness Drives, Youth Pledges, and various other communitybased events.
In addition, quiz and essay competitions will be organised under the themes of "Unity in Diversity", "Lessons from Sardar Patel" and "Collective Youth Action", designed to inspire the values of unity, discipline, and national pride among youth and citizens.
The DC appealed to the people of Kamjong particularly youth, students, community leaders, and civil society organisations to cooperate and actively participate to make the event a grand success befitting the legacy of Sardar Vallabhai Patel.
Meanwhile, in Noney, Dr Sharath Chandra Aroju informed that the district administration will also organise National Unity March on November 13, 2025, and called upon youths, students, civil society organisation (CSO) leaders, and the general public to actively participate in the march.
He highlighted the importance of the march in strengthening unity and patriotism across communities.
An interactive session followed during which persons and journalists from Noney District engaged in a question-and-answer discussion with the officials focusing on the march's arrangements.
Daniel Malangmei, former District President of BJP, in-charge of the Unity March, Noney District, also took part in the press conference.
